AN OPEN LETTER TO THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY

"It is not your environment, it is you-- the quality of your mind, the integrity of your soul,
and the determination of your will that will decide your future and shape your life." - Dr.
Benjamin E. Mays

To Whom It May Concern,

African Americans deeply concerned and cognizant of the erroneous ways of
our black brothers and sisters who use the n-word, your help is needed in
efforts to eradicate a debauched, 300-year-old mind manipulation process.
This mind set has been embedded so profoundly into the African American’s
subconscious that we are not even aware of its undermining effects.

Too many of our black brothers and sisters suffer from a psychological
phenomenon accurately described as ni**aholism. These individuals,
ni**aholics, are addicted to a word that has captivated their hearts, oppressed
their minds, and shackled their optimism, motivation, for more than three
centuries. They are lost in a tumultuous sea of confusion: Addicts are blind to
the destruction and adverse effects this word precipitates in their lives and
others they encounter. As a result, they remain dazed and unreceptive to the
calamity and “self-drowning” caused by using the n-word.

Others of us can see, in plain view, the disarray unseen by addicts; we have
found our way through the darkness. And if we are to rise up collectively to a
new state of mind power, us enlightened ones must reach back, grab the
hands of those still blind and stumbling in the dark, and lead them into the
light. Yes, they will hostilely resist and sling profane terms at you—maybe
even hurl physical blows your way—as you strip away a piece of their comfort.
But you must persevere despite these reactions.

As addicts come to understand the domino-effect demise linked to this word,
they will eventually understand your position and its relevance, and the
importance of discarding the idiom. You know that your efforts are purposeful
and will help a whole race of people, one by one, reach their true promise.
This goal may take years to accomplish; this is why the enlightening process
must begin now. The first step in the process is introspection: We start by
looking at self.

What do you see when you look into the mirror? Do you see someone who
can WALK the walk, and not just TALK the talk? Someone who thinks beyond
self-survival, and can commit to group survival, which, at present, is virtually
non-existent within the Black community? Someone ready, willing and able to
help plant positive seeds into the hearts and minds of our youth—seeds
earthed in self-respect, pride, dignity, and honor, that will blossom
unprecedented blooms of self-worth into their essence? Someone who
believes saving one child from the negative, psychological influences of the
demonic n-word is worth the effort?

On the contrary, when you look in the mirror, do you see a “talking head”? A
“talking head” is a professional talk the talker, one with no substance who
adores the attention and thought of becoming active in the movement, but
cowers when it’s time to do what he/she said he/she would do, actually walk
the walk.

As you determine your position, decide whether you are a harbinger of the
WE CAN’T mentality or a bearer of the WE CAN mentality. We can be held down
by our own weight or rise collectively on our own wings. The choice is ours to
make. The ignorance that pervades our community is an albatross that must
be removed.  We are hanging ourselves by continuing to nurture and permit
this inferior mind state—inactively pursuing the movement (the “talkers” and
apathetics) contributes to the demise of our African-American community.

Because the n-word is severely entrenched in the hearts and minds of our
community members, some minorities believe that we CAN’T affect change,
the feat is too impossible to overcome. If you own the victim mentality—
hopeless, helpless, and defenseless, then, yes, you are and will remain a
victim, and will not effectively combat this problem. However, nothing is
impossible, and for every problem, a solution exists. We must adopt the CAN
mentality, believe that we can affect change, make relentless strides toward
uprooting the negative mindset and cast it into an unforgiving sea of waste.

Anti-n-word movement success will require the energy, support, and
commitment of all African Americans. The burden no longer rides on one
individual’s or organization’s shoulders. Each of us contributes to the goal
individually, but we must realize that the duty belongs to us, the African-
American race, collectively. WE must come together and fight for OUR self-
respect, dignity and pride. WE must re-instill that which was stripped from us
centuries ago, OUR heritage, culture, and morals.

Let us show solidarity, make plans and think on higher levels as a combined
mind force to experience greater good in our African-American community
and American society. Distinguish yourself from n-word users. Take a stand,
and help deliver your loved ones, relatives and friends from the jaws of
mental enslavement. You, as an enlightened African American, own the
necessary artillery to exterminate the mass ignorance encompassing use of
the n-word.

We must be eager and determined to improve mentally, morally and
spiritually. Our humanity, identity, heritage, and sense of being must be
restored after a 300-year hiatus. Continual identification to the n-word has no
place in this endeavor.
